Two moves of the “same size” can cost quite different amounts. Here is what makes the difference, ranked from the biggest lever to the smallest, so there are no surprises:
- How much you’re moving. More stuff means more truck space and more time on the day. Decluttering before you move is the single biggest lever on your final bill.
- What your access is like. Flights of stairs, a no-lift apartment block, a long carry from the truck to the door, or a tight driveway all add time. Tell us about them upfront and we will come prepared.
- What day and time you’re moving. Fridays, weekends and month-end are in hot demand. A mid-week, mid-month slot is usually the easier and cheaper run (more on that below).
- How far you’re moving. A cross-suburb move takes longer on the road than a move around the corner. Our only minimum is a simple call-out to and from your address, no hidden fuel surcharges.
- How organised you are. On hourly rate moves you’re only paying for the time it takes on the day. So anything you can do to have everything packed and ready for us to move will save you time and money.
Hourly or fixed price: which is cheaper?
Both have their place, and it is genuinely your call:
Hourly rate
You only pay for the time your move actually takes, billed in 15-minute increments (not rounded up to the half or full hour like a lot of Melbourne removalists). Great if you are well organised, or have a few mates pitching in to speed things along.
Fixed price
All about peace of mind. You know the all-inclusive number before we lift a finger, and it does not change if there is a traffic jam, an out-of-service lift or any other delay on the day.
