Tips for a smooth house move
A few things that make moving day faster, and, since we charge by time, cheaper:
- Declutter first. The less that comes with you, the quicker and cheaper the move, and the easier the unpack. Donate or sell what you won’t miss.
- Empty what you can. Clothes can often stay in drawers, but clear out anything heavy or breakable so furniture is safe to lift and carry.
- Clear a path. Move the cars off the driveway and clear hallways and doorways so we can get straight to the heavy stuff.
- Flag the tricky bits. Narrow side gates, steep steps or a low carport? Just let us know at the time of booking and we’ll take care of the rest.
- Pack the small things yourself into sturdy boxes, or grab reusable Little Red Tubs, and leave the furniture and white goods to us.
- Defrost the fridge the night before so it’s ready to go, and drip-free, on the day.

It depends on the size of your home and the access. Most moves run with two Little Red Truckers and one truck; bigger homes get a larger team and a second truck so it’s still wrapped up in a day. Tell us about your place and we’ll match you to the right setup so you never pay for more than you need.
Do you take apart and reassemble beds and furniture?
Yes, it’s part of the service. We dismantle beds, wardrobes and flat-packed furniture before we load, and put it all back together in your new home.
Can you move a whole house in one day?
Almost always, yes. We bring enough team members and truck space to move a standard Melbourne home in a day. For very large moves we’ll talk you through the best plan when you book.
What about the shed, garage and garden?
We can take the lot, the mower, the tools, the pots and the barbecue. Just flag the bulky or awkward outdoor gear when you book so we bring the right straps and trolleys for it.
